Ham and Cheese

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

Last night Mr. Hammy and I were clowning around with the camera. He likes when I swivel the viewfinder around so he can see himself while I am taking the pictures. Below is the result of our little session:

As Grandpa Joe might say, “Look at the JAWS on that boy!”

(Several years ago Grandma Jill and Grandpa Joe went to D.C.. They got a behind the scenes tour of the Capitol building and ended up entering an elevator as Ted Kennedy exited it. When Kennedy got out of the elevator, Grandpa Joe, raised in South Texas, exclaimed: look at the jaws on that boy! he ain’t missed any meals! and it’s become a running joke in the fam.)

Usually about 2 hours after putting Miles down to sleep in his bed for the night, he pops up and comes out to the living room and sits on my lap. He snuggles with me until he falls back asleep and then we put him back in bed.

The other night he couldn’t get comfortable on my lap so he got down on the floor and…..

Right down there with the shoes and all! He was back to sleep in less than a minute.

Too Cool for Pool

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

On Friday Miles and I spent ALL DAY with Kristina and the kids at their neighborhood pool. Miles borrowed Maria’s water wings and was quite a little fish!

Jude and Miles are in love with each other.

Back from our trip…

We had a great time on our visit to groovy Takoma Park/ Silver Spring, MD. This is where I grew up and I am lucky enough to have cousins that live there now. And I am even luckier to have cousins with lots of frequent flyer miles who will fly us up for a free weekend of family bonding and nostalgia!

IMG_2970.jpgHere’s Miles refusing to sit still on the airplane. The guy to his right, incidentally, wore several gold chains, was from NJ and was in “waste management.” Hmmmmm…

IMG_2998.jpgWe had a fabulous time with the newlyweds, Meredith and Josh, and enjoyed their cute house with the fancy new kitchen.

IMG_2987.jpgMiles LOVED walking their dog, Samba.

IMG_2984.jpgWe went by the house I lived in until I was 15 and I snapped this shot of Miles in the front yard.

The best part of visiting the old ‘hood was running in to my old neighbor who was still rocking her beehive (although now it is gray and about 3 inches shorter than it used to be)! Wish I got a picture of her….

We also went to ride the choo choo at Wheaton Regional Park and Miles played on some of the same old playground equipment I played on when I was a little kid. It was really neat to be able to do that with him. Here he is with Meredith in a wooden car. There were about 8 of these scattered about and Miles test-drove all of them.

IMG_2981.jpgWhen we go up there we usually do lots of DC-ish activities, but this time it was nice to do more Maryland-y stuff. We went to the Baltimore Harbor and to the National Aquarium. It was an awesome trip. We can’t wait to go back! Thanks Mer and Josh!

Luna and Miles: inside voice

We had to sneak-shoot video of these two snuggletrons so that Miles wouldn’t stop and run at the camera. The results are dim, out of frame, and adorable!
