We had a great time on our visit to groovy Takoma Park/ Silver Spring, MD. This is where I grew up and I am lucky enough to have cousins that live there now. And I am even luckier to have cousins with lots of frequent flyer miles who will fly us up for a free weekend of family bonding and nostalgia!
Here’s Miles refusing to sit still on the airplane. The guy to his right, incidentally, wore several gold chains, was from NJ and was in “waste management.” Hmmmmm…
We had a fabulous time with the newlyweds, Meredith and Josh, and enjoyed their cute house with the fancy new kitchen.
Miles LOVED walking their dog, Samba.
We went by the house I lived in until I was 15 and I snapped this shot of Miles in the front yard.
The best part of visiting the old ‘hood was running in to my old neighbor who was still rocking her beehive (although now it is gray and about 3 inches shorter than it used to be)! Wish I got a picture of her….
We also went to ride the choo choo at Wheaton Regional Park and Miles played on some of the same old playground equipment I played on when I was a little kid. It was really neat to be able to do that with him. Here he is with Meredith in a wooden car. There were about 8 of these scattered about and Miles test-drove all of them.
When we go up there we usually do lots of DC-ish activities, but this time it was nice to do more Maryland-y stuff. We went to the Baltimore Harbor and to the National Aquarium. It was an awesome trip. We can’t wait to go back! Thanks Mer and Josh!
